In honor of Veterans Day on November 11th, the month of November is dedicated to showing our support to our military and veterans in both Canada and the US.
True Patriot Love Foundation
This November, Gotcha Covered will again partner with the True Patriot Love Foundation to raise awareness and support for Canadian military members, veterans, and their families.
True Patriot Love is the only national charity in Canada that supports military families, funds community-based programs and continues to provide support to the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research. They are uniquely positioned to understand the needs of their military families in order to provide the best resources for the greatest impact.
Founded in 2008 by a group of philanthropists in the greater Toronto area, True Patriot Love has raised $41 million to provide support to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families.
There are currently 68,000 regular force military families and over 486,000 veterans with their families in Canada. Each year, approximately 2,500 military personnel are medically released, and an estimated 60% have permanent physical limitations.
True Patriot Love supports rehabilitation programs for both physical and mental health for military members as well as their families and children. There are currently 1,025 community-based programs that are supported across Canada and over 40,000 beneficiaries of this organization.
Many military members receive adequate care and attention while serving, but much of that support goes away when they are released from service. As more veterans return home, the need for additional support and resources continues to increase.

Fisher House Foundation
Every November, Gotcha Covered also partners with the US-based veterans organization Fisher House Foundation.
Fisher House Foundation is best known for its network of comfort homes where veteran and military families can stay, at no cost, while a loved one is receiving medical treatment.
Fisher House homes are located near major military and VA medical centers across the United States and Europe. Each house is designed to encourage a sense of community through the use of shared kitchens and living spaces, while also providing privacy to tired families. Private bedrooms and bathrooms are built to accommodate the variety of needs every family may have. Fisher House Foundation ensures that there is never a lodging fee.
Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles Program, Hotels for Heroes, and manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds.
There are currently 95 houses in operation with a daily capacity of approximately 1,300 families. Since 1990, Fisher House Foundation has provided over 12 million days of lodging to over 455,000 families and has saved military and veteran families an estimated $575 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
Thanks to generous donations, the Fisher House Foundation has also awarded $2.3 million in scholarships to 15,000 students through grants and has provided more than 70,000 airline tickets to military families through their Hero Miles program.
Fisher House Foundation has several houses currently in the design phase or under construction as they strive to reach their goal of 100 houses.
During November, we are proud to raise awareness and support for the Fisher House Foundation as they continue to provide this valuable resource to US military members and veterans.
