What “Honeycomb” & “Cellular” Both Mean

The two names describe the same product from different angles. Honeycomb refers to the visual structure you can see from the side: rows of six-sided cells stacked in a pattern that resembles a beehive. Cellular refers to what that structure does: each enclosed pocket traps a small volume of air, and those insulating air pockets reduce heat transfer between the glass and the room. Cellular shades are built from two or more layers of fabric folded into pleats, and it’s the folded pleat geometry that creates the cells.
