Sean Ryder Owner

My wife and I moved to Thousand Oaks in 2021, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had found home. We absolutely love this community and the lifestyle it offers, from time at the beach to rounds of golf, pickleball matches and exploring everything the area has to offer with our two young boys and our dog. Living here has deepened our appreciation for the importance of creating a home that feels comfortable, functional, and truly personal.
Before starting my Gotcha Covered business, I spent more than 20 years in corporate America. Throughout my career, what I enjoyed most was helping people solve problems by listening carefully, understanding their needs and working toward thoughtful solutions. As I advanced into more senior roles, however, I found myself increasingly removed from that hands-on work and spending more time on “check-the-box” tasks that, while necessary, were far less fulfilling.
Gotcha Covered gave me the opportunity to return to what I love most, working directly with people, building relationships and helping clients make meaningful improvements to their homes. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people, learning about how they live in their spaces and collaborating with them to design window treatments that enhance both the look and feel of their home.
Today, I take great pride in offering a personalized, white-glove experience, combining thoughtful design, quality products and attentive service. Helping clients love their homes and feel confident in every detail of their window treatments is what motivates me every day.

I was made in China. I made the solo journey to the US at 16 with one suitcase and $60 in my pocket. Like a good immigrant girl, I majored in computer science, then got a real job in IT. At 29, I went through an early life crisis and wondered if this was all there is to the American dream. A steady job, a townhome, just needed to find Mr. Right and have 2.5 kids to make my life complete. Upon much reflection, I realized my dream was to become a performer. At 30, I quit my corporate job and started pursuing acting full time while serving as a court interpreter. A lawyer friend invited me to her husband’s birthday party where I met Sean. It was a crab party and he wasn’t eating crabs. Come to learn that he grew up a 7th day Adventist. He was a vegetarian for 13 years and then he decided to start eating meat but staying kosher. I thought, this won’t work, we can’t even share a meal together and I love shrimp! 6 months later, we were married in Vegas. 6 month after that he got a job in NYC and off we moved from Maryland to the big apple where I only did acting. We had our 2 sons in the city and during Covid, another job led us to Thousand Oaks where we have been living for the past 4 years. After Sean was laid off in 2025, we decided to make a total pivot and put our financial future in our own hands which led us to this business. We had installed some window treatment from LOWE’S 2 years ago and we ran into so many issues we didn’t realize that could be an issue. We felt extremely un-informed and some parts of the window treatment didn’t fit. We thought we could really help others to be more informed and make better choices in their decisions and enjoy their spaces more when it comes to window treatment. So here we are! Looking forward to serving our community!
