FAQ

  • After Installation and Warranties

    • What should I do if my blinds or shades stop working correctly after installation?

Call or contact your local Gotcha Covered team directly. They will take care of you.

Many problems are resolved quickly without a full replacement, and your installer keeps your measurements and product details on file to make any follow-up visit fast and straightforward.

    • What is the product warranty?
We pride ourselves on working with some of the best vendors in the window treatment industry. We also firmly stand behind the products we recommend and install. That being said, product warranties will vary based on each product and manufacturer. During the consultation process, we would be more than happy to walk you through the warranties available for your particular window treatments.
    • Do you have a service warranty?
The service warranty will vary depending on the product that is installed. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that the window treatments we install will measure up to our incredibly high standards. We will be happy to walk through the service warranty that comes with the particular product you are interested in during the consultation process.
  • Timeline and Installation

    • How long will the wait be before the product is installed?
Custom window treatments take a little more time to prepare to ensure each piece is expertly crafted. Certain products will arrive faster than others, and once they are delivered, we will need to work with you and our installers to schedule a time and date for project completion. We will do our best to give you a realistic estimate of when to expect your product to arrive as well as communicate with you throughout the entire process to keep you informed.
    • Who installs the product?
Depending on the product, we install many window treatments ourselves. We also proudly employ licensed and insured professional installers for any of our products that require a little more finesse.
    • How long does it take to get custom window treatments installed from start to finish?

Most custom window treatment projects are completed within a few weeks. However, lead times vary by product and manufacturer.

During your consultation, your designer will give you a realistic timeline specific to what you're ordering. Once your treatments arrive, we coordinate installation at a time that works for you.

If you have a move-in date, holiday deadline, or guest arrival you're working toward, tell us, and we'll do everything possible to hit it.

    • What happens if my window treatments arrive damaged, are the wrong color, or don't fit correctly?

We'll reorder the window treatments and handle everything with the manufacturer. You don't need to contact the manufacturer yourself.

  • Pricing and Project Planning

    • What are the payment options?
Payment options will vary. Most Gotcha Covered locations do accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. Just be sure to discuss the specifics with your design consultant during your initial consultation. Financing may also be an option.
    • How does your pricing compare to big-box stores like Home Depot or buying online?

For custom-made window treatments, our pricing is competitive with or beats big-box options when you factor in the full cost: professional measuring, expert product selection, and licensed installation are all included.

Big-box and online purchases require you to measure yourself, choose without seeing samples in your space, and arrange a separate installation.

Mis-measures and product mismatches are common and expensive. Your consultant will provide written, itemized proposals and several options so you can compare clearly and choose what fits your budget.

    • Can we do the project in phases and start with just a few rooms?

      Absolutely.

Many customers start with the rooms that matter most, such as primary bedrooms, main living areas, or a sunroom that's too hot to use, and add the rest over time.

We keep your measurements and product details on file so future phases are fast and consistent. There's no minimum order and no pressure to do the whole house at once.

  • Motorized Window Treatments and Smart Home

    • Can you install motorized shades and connect them to my smart home or phone app?

Yes. We install motorized blinds and shades from brands like Hunter Douglas PowerView, Norman, and others.

Your installer programs remotes, sets up wall switches, and connects the system to your app. If your home uses Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Apple HomeKit, ask your consultant which systems are compatible.

Training is included at install, so you can comfortably control every window from your phone, a remote, or your voice.

  • Choosing the Right Window Treatment

    • Do you sell fabric treatments/draperies/curtains?

Yes! We pride ourselves on offering almost any product for use on the interior of a window. This includes hard treatments such as blindsshutters, and roller shades

We also offer soft window treatments, including draperies, curtains, valances, and roman shades. We also offer fabric products such as custom bedding, pillows, and upholstery, so be sure to ask us about these fantastic soft treatment options!

    • Do you have drapery hardware?
Yes, we do! We provide everything needed to install your custom window treatment and ensure it functions as intended. This includes a wide variety of beautiful, decorative drapery hardware as well as motorized options. Be sure to ask us about our motorized window treatments and smart home technology!
    • Why are draperies so expensive?
It all comes down to the amount of fabric and the type of material. The overall cost will depend greatly on the size of the window, but in general, draperies require more fabric than shades. Quality of materials can be seen and felt with custom draperies. The price will vary depending on the type of material and the amount of fabric required.
    • Can you help me figure out what type of window treatment is right for each room?

Of course, that's exactly what the in-home consultation is for.

If you're not sure whether you need shutters, shades, or blinds, or whether to prioritize light control, privacy, or style, your consultant will walk through the options for each window and explain the trade-offs in plain terms.

Clients who come in with no idea what they want leave with a clear, room-by-room plan they feel confident about.

    • What window treatments are best for blocking light in a bedroom?

Blackout roller shades, cellular shades with blackout fabric, and plantation shutters with tight louvers are the most common recommendations.

Your consultant will assess the room, account for light gaps around the frame, and recommend the product that delivers real darkness rather than just "room darkening."

Many customers tell us they wish they had done their bedrooms sooner.

    • Do you work on windows that are difficult to reach, like skylights, high foyer windows, or large sliding doors?

Yes. We regularly handle skylights, two-story foyer windows, large sliders, lanai doors, and out-of-square frames that others won't touch.

Motorized window treatments are often the best solution for windows that are difficult or unsafe to reach manually. Your installer will assess each opening and recommend the right product and mounting approach.

  • Getting Started

    • Do you have a showroom?
A handful of Gotcha Covered locations do have a physical showroom, but it is our firm belief that custom window treatments need to be seen and felt within the actual space. Color, texture, and opacity will take on a different look in a showroom than they will in your home or workplace. This is why we strongly recommend that all our potential clients take advantage of our complimentary, in-home design consultation and let us bring the showroom to you!
    • How much does a consultation cost?
Nothing! At Gotcha Covered, we firmly believe that to gain an accurate understanding of your space, style, and specific needs, we need to spend time in your home or business. That is why our initial design consultation is completely complimentary!
    • How long will the appointment take?
With our complimentary, in-home design consultation, we do like to take some time to get to know you and your space. We will discuss this more with you when setting up your initial appointment, but prepare to set aside at least one hour so that we can show you all of our exciting window treatment options.
    • How are you different from your competitors?
At Gotcha Covered, not only do we offer a wide variety of custom products from all of the best companies in the window treatment industry, but we also firmly believe that we are here for you, the customer. We desire to be a trusted partner and resource for you. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the initial consultation and installation process. This is why our service pledge is entitled “Clients For Life.”
    • Is a custom window treatment consultation really free, and what does it include?

Yes, the in-home design consultation is completely free with no obligation.

Your consultant will visit your home, walk through each room with you, bring physical samples, take precise measurements, and provide written proposals before leaving or shortly after.

You'll see how fabrics, colors, and materials actually look in your light, against your trim and furniture, not under showroom lighting. There's no pressure to decide on the spot.
